Animal cruelty or abuse: Contact Anchorage Animal Care & Control first and if they are not available or not open call Anchorage Police Department.
PLEASE NOTE:AHS is a limited admissions shelter. If you need to surrender or found a stray, you must contact the shelter first at 907-344-8808 or ahscatshelter@gmail.com to set up an appointment.
Please do not leave a cat unattended outside the facility under any circumstances.
The Intake Process
Step 1: Contact Us First
Contact AHS at 907-344-8808 or email ahscatshelter@gmail.com to discuss your situation with our team.
Step 2: Receive Intake Requirements
Receive intake requirements from Intake Team. Please note space is limited and changes regularly.
Step 3: Confirmation of Requirements
Receive confirmation if intake requirements have been met.
Step 4: Owner Surrender Documents
Fill out owner surrender documents prior to appointment. After completion of the document, an appointment will be scheduled.
Step 5: Gather Medical Records & Familiar Items
Gather medical records and familiar items after receiving confirmation of appointment. Bring food, bedding, or comfort items. Have a carrier prepared to bring your cat to the appointment.
Step 6: Scheduled Appointment
Meet for your scheduled appointment. Ensure the cat is in the carrier with familiar scents.
