At the Shelter
Hands-on shifts supporting daily cat care operations.
Cleaning & Socialization
Multiple shifts weekly
Clean litter boxes, refresh food and water, launder bedding, and spend time with cats. This is our most needed role.
Food Preparation
Daily, morning/evening
Prepare and portion food for all shelter residents, including cats with special dietary needs.
Medication & Specialized Care
Training required
Administer medications, monitor recovering cats, and support cats with chronic conditions.
Vet Transportation
As needed
Transport cats to and from veterinary appointments. A reliable vehicle and flexible schedule are needed.
Deep Cleaning Events
Seasonal
Participate in thorough facility cleanings to keep the shelter environment healthy and safe for cats.
Shy Cat Socialization
Ongoing
Specialized quiet-time sessions with shy and fearful cats — a patient, calm volunteer makes all the difference.
Outside the Shelter
Skills-based volunteering you can do remotely or in the community.
Photography
Beautiful cat photos dramatically increase adoption interest. We always need quality photographers.
Biography Writing
Help write compelling adoption profiles that show each cat's unique personality.
Social Media
Manage posts, stories, and engagement across our social platforms.
Website & Technology
Support website maintenance, content updates, and digital infrastructure.
Carpentry & Maintenance
Build and repair cat furniture, enclosures, and shelter fixtures.
Grant Writing
Research and write grant applications to secure funding for shelter operations.
Events & Fundraising
Plan, promote, and staff adoption events and community fundraisers.
Board & Committee Work
Serve on the board of directors or volunteer committees guiding the organization.
Purchasing & Logistics
Coordinate supply purchasing, donations, and delivery logistics.
Requirements
- Volunteers must be 18+ for independent shifts. Youth 14–17 may volunteer with a participating adult.
- All direct-care volunteers complete a shelter orientation before their first shift.
- Background checks may be required for certain roles involving unsupervised access.
- Commitment of at least one shift per month is appreciated but not required.
- We welcome volunteers of all experience levels — training is provided.
