At the Shelter

Hands-on shifts supporting daily cat care operations.

Cleaning & Care

Multiple shifts weekly

Clean litter boxes, refresh food and water, launder bedding, and support daily shelter cleanliness.

Food Preparation

Daily, morning/evening

Prepare and portion dry and canned food for shelter residents, including special dietary meals.

Medication & Specialized Care

As needed

Administer medications, monitor recovering cats, and support cats with chronic conditions as needed.

Vet Prep and Transportation

As needed

Prepare cats for veterinary visits and transport cats to and from appointments.

Socialization

Multiple shifts weekly

General socialization occurs at all times but specialized training required for shy and fearful cats.

Photography

Flexible

Capture high-quality photos and videos of our cats at the shelter to boost adoption profiles.

Outside the Shelter

Skills-based volunteering you can do remotely or in the community.

Biography Writing

Help write compelling adoption profiles that show each cat's unique personality.

Social Media

Manage posts, stories, and engagement across our social platforms.

Website & Technology

Support website maintenance, content updates, and digital infrastructure.

Carpentry & Maintenance

Build and repair cat furniture, enclosures, and shelter fixtures.

Grant Writing

Research and write grant applications to secure funding for shelter operations.

Board & Committee Work

Serve on the board of directors or volunteer committees guiding the organization.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteers must be 16+ for independent shifts. Youth ages 12–15 may volunteer with a participating adult.
  • All direct-care volunteers complete a shelter orientation before their first shift.
  • Specialized training is provided for shy and fearful cat socialization.
  • Commitment of at least one shift per month is appreciated.
