Volunteer With Us

AHS is 100% volunteer-run. Every clean litter box, every socialization session, every grant application — it's all done by people like you.

"Volunteer two hours. Change an entire day for a shelter cat."

Every shift matters. Cats notice when someone shows up for them.

At the Shelter

Hands-on shifts supporting daily cat care operations.

Cleaning & Socialization

Multiple shifts weekly

Clean litter boxes, refresh food and water, launder bedding, and spend time with cats. This is our most needed role.

Food Preparation

Daily, morning/evening

Prepare and portion food for all shelter residents, including cats with special dietary needs.

Medication & Specialized Care

Training required

Administer medications, monitor recovering cats, and support cats with chronic conditions.

Vet Transportation

As needed

Transport cats to and from veterinary appointments. A reliable vehicle and flexible schedule are needed.

Deep Cleaning Events

Seasonal

Participate in thorough facility cleanings to keep the shelter environment healthy and safe for cats.

Shy Cat Socialization

Ongoing

Specialized quiet-time sessions with shy and fearful cats — a patient, calm volunteer makes all the difference.

Outside the Shelter

Skills-based volunteering you can do remotely or in the community.

Photography

Beautiful cat photos dramatically increase adoption interest. We always need quality photographers.
